Logic enjoyed sudden notoriety after releasing a series of three highly-acclaimed mixtapes under his popular Young Sinatra title moniker. The tracklist for Friday night’s concert featured some real gems like an acapella version of “Ballin'” and a hyped up “Under Pressure” strewn throughout Logic’s new contemplative, extraterrestrial offering. One lucky student even managed to toss his Rubik’s cube up on stage, so when Logic aced his trademark solve in no time, while freestyling, the crowd roared its approval. Logic’s hour-plus-long set featured plenty of positive vibes over the stretch of nearly 20 songs, all while building a real connection with the audience. Logic shared that each new track he played, excluding the concert opener “ Fade Away,” which he performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in early December, was live for the very first time. Logic spun together a variety of songs from his vast repertoire, including a few of his early tracks from the mixtapes for the avid fans, he focused on dialing in his new album, The Incredible True Story, on stage. During one of many personal interludes with the crowd, the Gaithersburg, Maryland, native dropped the two biggest reasons why he was standing on that very stage. Though he performed sans spacesuit - a staple and running theme throughout his newest piece of artwork - Logic was nothing short of special. Logic (given name: Sir Robert Bryson Hall II) took the stage to a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday, and boy was his 26th revolution around the sun a good one. The line to get in formed early, snaking down two flights of stairs, around, and out the Bookstore doors. While a blanket of snow enveloped the Penn State campus, the Student Programming Association put together arguably the premier free hip-hop show the HUB has ever seen, and the Rattpack was certainly well represented. World-renowned rapper and noted Quentin Tarantino fanatic Logicis preparing to take his sophomore album, The Incredible True Story, on a two-month long world tour in next week, but he carved out some time (and a flight) to rock with Alumni Hall on Friday night for SPA Day.
